DK Running Club AGM - 11th June 2012
This is a summary of the key points covered at the AGM for the DK website
- thanks to John and Frankie, Jim and other DK members for their dedication with the beginners course
- the committee for their on-going work and support
- Gary and the DK 10K committee for all their hard work with the race and the funds raised, deemed to be a great success.
- Organisers and helpers with the inaugural Support Relief event, raising over £2,000 for charity
- Sally and her team of helpers at Blymhill 10K Raising £2,300 for charity
- Kevin Duckworth and his team of helpers for Gavin Tipper 5K Raising £1200 for Action heart
- Paul Richards for his fabulous internet site
- Richard and all the helpers for the highly successful inaugural Baggeridge XC event
- Brian Russell for his commitment to the club, now an honouree member.
Socials seems to be more frequent which is good to see, and great that we have being able to organise more coach trips to events.
- The club has its own insurance cover under UKA, and also individual runners are covered. Anyone having an accident while out running wishing to investigate a claim should contact Gary.
- Each running member is registered with UKA (the club pays £5 for each runner) and has their own bespoke number, if members join before the end of June they retain their same number, otherwise Gary has to renter the details and a new number will be issued. PLEASE CAN ALL EXISTING MEMBERS RENEW THEIR MEMBERSHIP BEFORE END JUNE IDEALLY to reduce the paperwork required. New members will be registered as normal. Lists will be published shortly.
- Gary stressed the importance of every committee member turning up to meetings or sending apologies.
- Gary is going to resurrect the Club Grand Prix. Watch this space!
- Paul is keen to encourage as many members as possible to input into the website, please send him your feedback on the website and anything you would like posted on there, the website is for all members to use. It would be great to profile some beginners so please email him your story about your experience of the club.
- Looking into setting up our own DK on-line entry system for the DK 10K next year, via PayPal.
- Looking into the possibility of a survey for DK members to provide their views on the website.
- The possibility of email updates to members (possibly a Newsletter) was discussed. A welcome pack for new members is also going to be looked into.

- Cross Country - Richard Sannwald advised that the inaugural cross country event had gone really well. Will not be held there again next year, as they currently have four venues, but we might volunteer again for 2013/2014 season.
- DK 10K - Written report from Gary Bonner was read out. The race was discussed in detail. In summary we have 865 entries which was a massive 200 up from last year and felt to be very impressive given the turnout at other 10Ks held locally in the week. About half of the entries were on-line. Thought to be a great success overall, with only a few minor improvements needed. A percentage of the profits will be given to Action Heart. Gary thanked the Race Committee and asked for any suggestions or ideas to be fed back to him as 2013 race is already being planned.
- Membership – please can runners pay their membership fees ASAP, as per the above.
- Beginners – John Glover reported that the take up has been high this year and many of our beginners are running the Gavin Tipper. The committee would love to hear about any new runners joining the club, please contact any of the committee with your news/comments etc, and ideally a photo that we can put on the website, as we hope to integrate newer members quicker.
- Paul Richards provided a detailed update on the website and plans for developing this further, including:
